Tell us about your career as a model. How did you get started?

I developed interest in being a Fashion/beauty connoisseur&model from way back in secondary school. My friends and I who shared common interests would practice striking poses, strutting and walking as tho we were in a runway or pageant competition. I had already started looking forward to my university but sadly my folks weren’t really supportive.
Shortly After I signed up with an agency, I started getting jobs mostly ushering/promotional jobs but I looked forward to fashion/beauty kinda jobs.

When did you first sign with an agency. And how was it like?

I first signed up with an agency(Unique models) during 2011/2012 session in campus. Being in an agency then helped me be in the know for pageants, jobs, auditions, etc..

During my 2nd year in school, I contested for quite a few pageants. I decided to dare myself even though I had very little knowledge and experience for pageant competition but I wanted to dare myself to make mistakes and learn alongside gather experience so I went ahead and apply for Miss Uniport. I was shortlisted and I placed 6th in Top 10.
Towards the end of that year, I thought to ‘try again’ so I applied for Miss Port harcourt pageant.. I placed in Top5 with the award for Best costumes/most beautiful dinner gown.
I did a couple more pageants and placed top in a few. I was also Miss NYSC for my batch (Lagos,2016/2017)

Currently, I’m the reigning beauty queen for Miss Ideal Nigeria (Tourism) and as a result, I represented Nigeria at the Miss Tourism Worlwide pageant held in Singapore.
I’ve featured in reality TV shows such as ‘Date my family’ in the show’s first airing in Nigeria. I’ve also done some commercials.
It’s been a tough journey but I’m tougher and I’m still going. I’m grateful for the achievements thus far.

What is one of your favorite photographs from your career so far?Who shot it?

One of my favorite photographs is my portrait shot from Albert Ogunde Photography.

What is your best model experience ever?

My best model experience is understanding that Persistence equals Winning. Persistence shows your strength and Winning shows that you’re deserving.

What are the main challenges in modeling today?

  • Inequality/Discrimination
  • Poor treatment
  • Differences. Majorly from the vendors/brands and agency/management.
  • Misplacement of belief:
People don’t realize how exhausting and time consuming being a model can be. So many people believe what I do is fun so I have no reason to be tired… YES! I absolutely love doing what I do but people need to understand there are sacrifices due to the demands of the job!

What do you enjoy most of your profession?

I enjoy how expressive I am with letting my personality flow.. I enjoy being watched on screens, stage & runways. I also enjoy the trips, network & places my passion has/is taking me.

How would you describe a model life?

I’d describe a model life as a life of constant learning and representation. It’s like you’re born to be the perfect ambassador. Trust me, it’s very tedious and it requires a lot of persistence, creativity & confidence.

What is your big model dream?

My big model dream is a huge one! I’m working on being featured on Forbes. To be known across Africa and the world, one phase at a time. I’d love to chill with the likes of Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Catriona Grey.

What is your favorite thing you do when not working?

My favorite thing to do when not working is either playing games while listening to music. It helps me relax.

Take us through a typical day in the life of Queen Sophra?

A typical day in the life of Queen Sopra is totally dependent on my schedule. It could be heavily busy or lightly busy. Heavily busy may be photoshoots or maybe I have to be on set or I have an event to attend. Lightly busy is more of being indoors and working on my brand.

How do you keep your body in good shape?

I keep my body in good shape by drinking lots of water/fluids, eating healthy, I try to get some sleep too and also exercise sometime to keep fit.

What’s your favorite place in the world?

My most favorite place in the world is my bedroom- the space I’m occupying at the time as my bedroom, on a very comfy bed with power, TV, munchies, food and fast internet.

Give us 5 fun facts people might not know about you yet?

  • I love kids!
  • I look to meet your soul on our very first conversation
  • I love and Trust God wholly
  • I talk to myself often
  • I’m actually a foodie that just don’t eat much…

What do you think can do for the model community?

I think Topnewstv is already doing well in contacting models to share their experience and be heard/seen. More power to your elbow.

Do you have any model friend you would like to see presented on

Yeah I do- my friend, Queen Samantha April Davidson. She’s the current Miss Peace Bayelsa.
