Tell us about your career as a model. How did you get started?

My name is Mayaki Helen Boluwatife
In 2014 I started modelling as as a baby model,I worked with alot of top agencies,alot of fashionista,
It all started like this when I had my birthday shoot in 2014 which I had with Flash I posted it on social media platform (facebook and WhatsApp)Alot of people that commented on the post just had the same comment saying ‘wow you look soo beautiful,you have a nice stature then why not go In modelling 😂😂😂😂soooo funny mehn ……..so days after my birthday I went through those comments and make a decision.
I told my parent about it which they also saw on social media soo they registered me with a modelling agency DOA MODELS which I don’t think still exist😂😂
So afterwards i started going for photoshoot,lingerie photos,swimwear and I enjoyed working with photographers
And lastly I also have a huge passion for acting and I love being in front of the camera

When did you first sign with an agency and what was that like?

my first sign with an agency was in. 2014🥰Anyways before I got signed I had to show them I’m a professional,showed them how excited I’m to be a model and believe me I was damn happy to be signed by one of the best modelling agency in Nigeria then

What is one of your favorite photographs from your career so far? Who shot it?

My favorite professional,well know photographs,I will tell you about my favorite photographs that I took
My favorite photographs was shot in an hotel(pilican hotel)in Chevron and was shot by @Tooample on. instagram
I wouldn’t say this is my best and it obviously a composite

What is your best model experience ever?

My best model experience 😅When I go shooting with swimwear ,lingerie where by the photographer tells me shoot my ass out and my boobs out too😂😂😂😂,OMG it soooo crazy and it has been my best😂😂Back to Back fashion shows.

What are the main challenges in modeling today? These are usually generally challenges everywhere

i-unstable income-The modelling business in Nigeria 🇳🇬 is still growing and yet to have a proper structure,therefore some models especially the up-comers may not have stable incomes
Tips:Be forward about your payment terms before the actual event commences so you make an informed-decision whether to take the job or not if you are offered nothing or something meagre.

5ii-Inferiority complex
Hearing ‘you are fat and ugly’ is the last thing any model wants to hear as this can demoralise even the finest and tallest girl who has low-self esteem. Also, the light skinned girls seem to be making more waves than the dark skinned ones and this can make themlater feel inferior in a pack of the fairest.

5iii-sexual advances (from sponsors)
Due to the high competition in the modelling industry, some models may be lured and blackmailed to exchange sex for a casting job. From casting directors to modelling agents and photographers, models are exposed to a whole lot of different personalities every step of the way and can fall prey if care is not taken
Tips-Know your worth and draw the fine line between work and pleasure. If your statistics can’t land you a good casting, your sexual submission won’t earn you one either.

5iv-substance abuse
Models share this common challenge with musicians – abuse of substances ranging from alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, caffeine, ecstasy, heroin, etc. Some models are very shy and reserved people, therefore resort to getting high on some substances just before hitting the runway as an escape to their fears and worries
Tips-Build your confidence and people management skills with books and consciously make effort to do your next photo shoot or runway show clean of any substance.

5v-muscle pull
Have you ever felt the brunt of standing for long or walking a distance on heels? This is the reality and regular work life of an active model. From rehearsals to photo shoots, and shows, wearing heels is inevitable and muscle pull is just the nerve’s way of reacting to that kind of stress.
Tips-Shop for heels that are balanced and has small room for your legs to breath. Go on flip flops during short breaks or at any free time you can grab and massage your feet from time to time

What do you enjoy most of your profession?

What I enjoy most in my professions are collaboration,variety,Autonomy

How would you describe a model life?

A model’s life portray alot,they convince people to think that they are what a picture of them show,different images with different personality and appearances, An most especially, a model is a middle actor,as they have to act as if the money they get is as beautiful as the pictures they took.Tho it depends on the model’s personality but to me obviously yes

What’s your big model dream?

My big model dream is to become the next MISS AGBANI DAREGO

What is your favorite thing you do when not working?

I eat,drink and train like a Victoria’s model
As a model how I got the key of getting a slim and tonned body (Having to keep my shape)is I eat lot of vegetables
I do 30- 60 minutes cardio ;2-3 days per week,I focus on weight and resistance training,in cooperate ballet,yoga,I also plan my meal ahead of time
Every morning you see me exercising;40-50 push-up,pressup ,jumping,spinning then afterward I take a glass of water

What’s your favorite place in the world?

my favorite place in the world is California
As a model I love going to beautiful places for shoot and California is know variously as the land of milk and honey,beautiful building ,nice locations,Santa Monica beach
And also I love watching fashion show and California is well know for their best fashion show
Their weather is wow 😮
National parks-California has more national park than any other state

I was born on 28th of November in Lagos,Nigeria.Am the last of five siblings ,I love making new friends,I laugh alot,Am pretty😂😲😅and lastly am a troubleshooter
