The First Lady of Kwara State, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq yesterday supported the Abila foundation for the purchase of birthing tool kits, misoprostone tablets packs, training of health birth attendants and to prevent and treat postpartum Hemorrhage after childbirth.

The financial support was presented to Mr. Ladi, the Chairman of the Abilad Foundation by Mr. Rapheal Hassan who’s the Director of Protocol to the First Lady of Kwara State.

Mr. Rapheal Hassan on behalf of the Kwara State First Lady, Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq reiterated the need to train Traditional Birth Attendants on modern techniques to stem the tide of Maternal and Infant Mortality in the rural communities.

Dr. Abdulrazaq identified that the proposed training for the Birth attendants will improve the traditional birth practices as it is the major factor resulting in complications during pregnancy and child delivery when pregnant women patronize the TBAs.

The Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Alao Ladi in his words commended the support of Her Excellency and her relentless effort in getting more working tools and Misoprostone drugs to see to the more effective operation and training of workers in the rural areas.

Mr. Alao said the support received will increase the efficiency of its activities which include sensitization, training, and community advocacy in enhancing safe delivery methods and care of infants in Kwara State.

Mr. Alao disclosed that the “Mama kits” being produced by the foundation will now be branded and named “Ajike kits” to appreciate Her Excellency’s support towards the foundation and the state at large.
