The African Alliance with seventeen African Young Men’s Christian Association in their endeavor to envisage a developed Africa has organized a program through its African Scenario Team tagged Disbursing Africa Scenario.
The YMCA hosted 44 youth participants and 3 experts from African 35 countries with the backdrop of bringing into reality 6 aspirations of which have been foreseen for the year 2063.
The Agenda 2063 Aspirations encompasses varieties of carefully orchestrated thoughts that are determined to shape and align Africa with the fast-growing world of technology, economy, and politics.
The Agenda; a prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development; An integrated continent, politically united and based on the ideals of Pan-Africanism and the vision of Africa’s renaissance; an Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law; a peaceful and secure Africa; an Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, values, and ethics; an Africa where development is people-driven, unleashing the potential of its women and youths; Africa as a strong, united and influential global player and partner.
On this blueprint has the Nigerian chapter of the YMCA begun virtual enlightenment programs for concerned youths all across the regions of the nation to participate and be inclusive in the critical envisaging of the future of the African continent.
In line with this, the team held its Train the Trainers program on the 15th of August, 2020 with subsequent virtual training to be directed at a larger audience in order for the aspirations of the team to be passed across to all stakeholders in Nigeria.
The Train the Trainers program which was facilitated by Odeajo Israel S2C Ambassador& ChangeAgent had in presence representatives of YMCA from all the regions of Nigeria.
The representatives who contributed immensely to the dissection of the agendas and also the three scenarios namely the Blue for desirable, Red for Undesirable while Green stands for Innovation.
The scenarios were made comprehensive by highlighting the points in creative stories.
In his reaction, the representative of YMCA Mada Hills, Mr. Samson S2C Ambassador & ChangeAgent said the data dissected clearly showed that Africa has the tendency to take advantage of the technology advancement, while there is still a lot to do in order to efficiently leverage on the technological advancement.
Mr. Kabrang Nayako, representing YMCA Gombe observed that the speedy growth in the technology and its domination may affect Africa’s cultural relationship, noting that technology with all its positive modern advancement is crucial but if not properly maintained will affect the relations of Africans.
Miss. Lolade Areogun who rather commented on the red Scenario that stands for Undesirable affirmed that there are important questions to be asked in relations to rape, adding that questions such as “what can we do to stop rape cases, what another thing can the victim do in order not to be raped, what can be done for the rapists?” need to be asked.
Miss. Areogun raised these questions to buttress the team’s concern as regards the undesirable vices at play in the narrative of Africa and are already categorized into the Red scenario.
The training concluded on the note that the crucial points should be dispersed to YMCA members in all regions and other individual stakeholders who are interested in the progression of the African State.
The subsequent training programs will, therefore, be regional, as different branches of the YMCA will engage their teams for effective information and education on the data and points raised.
The training is however scheduled to hold from 21st of August to 20th September, 2020.
