NDLEA Kwara Command commends Kwara State First Lady on her Stride towards reducing the prevalence of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Kwara State



The First Lady of Kwara State and Founder Ajike People Support Centre, Her Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq was applauded for her giant stride towards reducing the prevalence of Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking in Kwara State  by the State Commander Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara State Command, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Ambrose Umoru at the Grand Finale Programme heralding the week long activities to commemorate the UN Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Kwara State.



The Grand Finale Programme began with a walk to create awareness and sensitization with the Ilorin metropolis and a Press parley/briefing at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House Ilorin.


Highlight of the Press briefing was the presentation of a customized Information, Education and Communication Roll-up Banner to Her Excellency,   Amb. Dr. Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq by the State Commander NDLEA, ACGN Ambrose Umoru. The material was received by the representative of Her Excellency, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq.


Responding on behalf of Her Excellency, Dr. Razaq assured the NDLEA of Her Excellency’s continued support towards combating the menance of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the State. Dr.  Razaq further stated that with Her Excellency’s support and the cooperation of all stakeholders, prevalence of drug abuse and illicit trafficking would be reduced drastically which would also reflect in the next UNODC survey for Kwara State.



ACGN Ambrose Umoru. while delivering his speech highlighted the.  success recorded by the NDLEA Command in the State. He also warned parents and guardians to be vigilant as there is an emerging increase in the number of females involved in Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the State.



Also speaking the Chairperson, Kwara State Drug Control Committee Pharm. Barakat Olanrewaju in her speech expressed gratitude to Her Excellency Amb. Dr. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq for making the Committee active and lively to its statutory responsibilities which could be ascribed to the support received from the First Lady.


The Grand Finale Programme was witnessed by Members of the State Executive Council, Heads of Military and Paramilitary Agencies in the State, Pupils from Schools across the State, NYSC Corp members, CSOs and NGOs in the State, and a host of others.
