From interactions, commentaries and readings so far on the Petroleum Industry Act, the common ground is that there is an urgent need for a law or framework to regulate the industry. This is resoundingly sacrosanct. But that is not to say that people are not angst about the Act. There are shortcomings and we must take the responsibility to educate the Host Communities, Niger Deltan and all who seek objective and pragmatic understanding of the Act.

We understand that a great number of Commentators have not read through to the Act to understand the provisions. The media and discussions are awash with half-truths and untruths from all sides: the State and none state actors. This is quite worrisome and unless steps are taken to learn and engage, we just might be on the verge of foreclosing any positive for us in the Act. Away from the shenanigans and lies pervading society, it is time to engage our fears and concerns about the PIA.

Our first concern is to create an atmosphere for exchange and learning devoid of ephemeral persuations, we do not want to be victims of ignorance or allow politicians to take advantage of our ignorance albeit to highjack opportunities if any and make the prospects another failed Niger Delta Agency.

Respectfully, as part of our core objectives to contribute to learning and responsibility for the good of the Niger Delta region, we shall through the facility in place, engage and dialogue on the Petroleum Industry Act, undertake the review, interpret actions and inactions of the Federal Government, learn more and become better informed.

FENND as a coalition of Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities stands against all forms of injustices and internal colonization, usurpation of our identities and territories under any guise. We believe in learning, dialogue and none violent processes in achieving our goals.

I am therefore inviting you on behalf of the Forum for Ethnic Nationalities of Niger Delta (FENND) to join the Zoom platform as a participant to engage and be equipped with knowledge and information.  The Theme: The Petroleum Industry Act: HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY is very engaging and provides perspectives for pragmatic and objective learning.

We want all Stakeholders, political actors, MDAs and Legislators to join in to enable a holistic action on the workability of this Act while it or the Nigerian State remains.
