2022 APC National Convention: Here are some things you should know about the new APC political party chairman




The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday night elected new leaders to run the party for four years.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu was the new chairman of the party when all his rivals resigned from the post after they all agreed to nominate him at the party’s general assembly held in Eagles Square, Abuja.

Earlier, it was reported that President Muhammadu Buhari wanted Adam to become the party’s chairman.

Who is Abdullahi Adamu?

Abdullahi Adamu is currently a Member of the National Assembly representing the western part of Nasarawa State.

He also served as governor of Nasarawa State from 1999 to 2007.

Born on July 23, 1946, he was born in Keffi, Nasarawa State, and attended primary and secondary school there before graduating from Government Secondary School, Makurdi, Benue State in the 1960s. 1962.

He later went to Government Technical College, Bukuru, before going to Kaduna State Vocational College to get his HND.

He graduated in 1992 with a degree in law from UNIJOS University and became a lawyer in 1993.

It is reported that Adam’s political career began in 1977 when he was appointed to the drafting of the constitution for the second term of Nigeria’s civilian government.

He was also a member of the committee that oversaw the draft constitution of Sani Abacha in 1994.

In 1999 he ran for governor under the banner of the PDP in Nasarawa State and won for two terms.

He was also the first chairman of the National Board of Governors when they were formed in 1999, a position he held for five years.

What work did Adam do?

The key issue for Adam as APC chairman is to ensure the party’s victory in next year’s general election.

He must ensure that the candidate who qualifies for the party is nominated if they are to remain in power by 2023.

Also, make sure that peace prevails among peers, especially those who are violent.

Earlier, we informed you that Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu has been elected as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a meeting of its members in Abuja on Saturday.

The move came after all the other candidates for the post withdrew, and they unanimously agreed that Adam should enter without being elected.

Many of the ruling APC leaders in Nigeria were elected unopposed, either because of the lack of a candidate or after their opponents withdrew from the race.

Gov. Abubakar Badaru has announced the names of those whose status has been decided to run in the by-elections, after much debate over who will lead the political party.

And let’s not forget, the decision was made a year and nine months after the dissolution of the APC executive committee.

Earlier in the day, a list of candidates for the 2023 general election was called “Unity list”.

Although election officials appealed to some candidates to register a single candidate without a formal election, some candidates openly stated that they would not run.

Teams consult to select group representative

After several kisses, some of them agreed to the kiss.

Such positions include the position of deputy chairman of the APC political party for the northern region of Nigeria and the position of secretary of the APC political party.


The most prominent of these was the position of general secretary of the political party between Lawyer Adebayo Shittu, Senate Oyiọla Omisore, Olaiya Olaitan and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.

After much deliberation, deliberation and scrutiny, the other candidates submitted to the Omiṣore Election Senate.

A total of 7,044 delegates turned out for the by-elections but the consensus on a “conscensus” candidate is likely to go to the polls.

Ahead of the by-elections in Abuja on Saturday, March 26, 2022, there were at least three separate elections planned by the APC but failed.

According to the election commission, all those who withdrew from the race after the meeting with the party leaders will receive the money they used to buy their contest form.

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the newly formed leaders to take a stand on the issue of selecting a candidate over the party.

President Buahri has stated that no matter what they do, it will not be possible for them to field a candidate before the 2023 general election.

President Buhari made the remarks while addressing APC delegates from all over Nigeria at a meeting and selection of party leaders at Eagle Square in Abuja on Saturday.

President Buhari reminded the new APC members of the coalition to give all party members a fair go and compete for any position they want, which is crucial for the development of democracy.

The President of Nigeria urged the new members of parliament to allow democracy within the party and to ensure that they do not devalue and nominate candidates for political office.

He also urged all members to resolve their differences amicably and defeat the new leaders to further the APC political party.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will convene in Abuja on Saturday, March 26.

The program will be held at Eagles Square, and it is hoped that APC delegates, as many as 4,000 from various states in Nigeria, will participate.

  • North West – Publication Secretary
  • South-south – Women’s leader
  • Candidates from the Southwest region

Four candidates are vying for the position of general secretary for the APC political party from Southwestern Nigeria.

This is in line with the group’s policy of having the region represented by the secretary.

Ten million Naira each bought a competition form.

Former Osun State Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore, former Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu from Oyo State, Olaiya Olaitan and Ife Oyedele.

Competing for various positions in the group did not exclude women.

The son of the late MKO Abiola, Kareemat Abiola is also running for the youth leadership position.

Other candidates for the post are Dada Olusegun, Dayo Idrael, Olalekan Edwards and Buhari Sadeeq.
