Today marks, the 22nd Democracy day since it began in the year 2000.
It is done to commemorate the restoration of democracy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Until the 6th of June 2018, the Nigerian’s democracy day was usually marked on the 29th May until it was changed to June 12th.
Democracy day, marks the Military handover of power to an elected civilian government in 1999.
Therefore, as we gear towards another election year to elect the next Government, it is important to note that Nigeria is our dear country. We therefore, must continue to pledge and uphold her unity, honour and glory.
As Elders, youths and children, we must put aside the quest for money politics and rather push for electing leaders with the right mindset, passion and commitment to follow through their respective visions.
Today, is also a call for reflection of how far have come as a Nation and have an understanding of where we are going.
With Patience, integrity, Honour to God and respect for civil institutions, we will accomplish our desired dream for a Great and Progressive Nation.
Finally, there is only one tool that once put together massively, will determine who becomes the next sect of elected leaders. This tool is our Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
An appeal is therefore made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to aid the masses is in ensuring a seamless voters registration.
And also there is an urgent need for all persons to come out in their numbers to register before the 30th day of May 2022. And once it’s time to collect the PVCs, all persons that registered must also pick them up.
God bless Our great Country, Nigeria.
Happy Democracy Day.
